BALOS-GRAMVOUSSA
Balos is a lagoon between an islet and the coast of Crete. There is an islet which forms part of a cape, through the lagoon, called Cape Tigani (which means "frying pan" in Greek).
Its peculiar shape creates a unique landscape that amazes tourists every year, and its pristine turquoise waters appear to be something from another world.
North of Balos, at the Korykon cape, are the ruins of the small ancient Roman city of Agnion, with a temple to the god Apollo.
Gramvoussa is the name of an islet with a very important history.Due to its strategic location,Gramvoussa was fortified by the Venetians, who built a well-fortified castle on the top of a steepy rock at an altitude of 137 m.
You can walk to the castle on top or stay at the beautiful beach.
